PROJECT BRIEF

Bridging The Gap is more than just a YouTube channel; it’s a heartwarming journey of a father and son connecting over music. Roderick Coffman Jr. and Roderick Coffman Sr., the co-hosts of this beloved channel, have captivated audiences with their genuine bond, insightful commentary, and shared love for hip-hop.

With this project, the father/son duo were partnering with Cannabis Brand Abstrakt to create a capsule collection called “High Priority.” Through this partnership, they aimed to launch a clothing line that symbolizes the connection between music and cannabis culture, inspiring artistic expression and unity.

THE APPROACH

As the graphic designer for the High Priority capsule collection, a collaboration between The Bridging The Gap Podcast and cannabis brand Abstrakt, my focus was on crafting designs that capture the deep connection between music and cannabis culture. At the heart of this intersection lie creativity, self-expression, and the communities that gather to celebrate the journey of sound and storytelling that music provides. Inspired by this ethos, I leaned into typography-driven designs paired with complementary imagery, creating visuals that reflect the spirit of artistic expression and unity central to this partnership.

A key goal throughout the design process was to create graphics that felt subtle and sophisticated, steering clear of overly obvious or campy cannabis references. I aimed to design apparel that could be worn in any setting while still allowing customers to feel proud of representing their community and the shared connection between music, creativity, and cannabis culture.
